Abstract: for Natural resources, Environment (TECOS)&#xD;
"Tourism capacity" is the ability of a tourist site to satisfy the tourism demand at an acceptable level of damage of its resources. This points out that there exists a concrete limit, if exceeded the environment will be badly influenced. Thus defining an appropriate number of tourists based on the natural capacity is really necessary, especially in national parks and natural reserves.&#xD;
In recent years, Bach Ma National Park has seen a considerable increase in the number of tourists. In order to explore its resources for tourism purpose effectively and scientifically, the geographical information system (GIS) has been applied. The result has calculated tourism capacity for each route in Bach Ma National Park, which will reduce the hardness of field works.</summary>

Abstract: Lao Cai, a mountainous province, has a high landform, a complex geological structure, and is dissected strongly. Lao Cai’s endogenous processes happen strongly with a large rainfall, which impulse the natural hazards. Recently, in September 2004, a landslide happening in Lao Cai killed 26 people, lost tens of billion VND. With its strategic position of politics, economy and society, Lao Cai indeed needs basic studies for mitigating natural hazards and sustainable development.&#xD;
Landslide, a natural process on the slope, is affected by gravity and many other natural and social factors. Therefore, study of landslide must be based on general geographical opinion, and GIS technology is a effective tool for this work. The article shows the evaluating steps of the factors controlling landslide hazard. The result of project is a map of landslide hazard sensitivity in Lao Cai province.</summary>

Abstract: The estimation of positional errors always is a challenge for geographers and land surveyors. While the algorithms for transforming coordinates are existed a long time ago, the problem of transforming positional errors is not devoted adequate attention. Based on determined mathematical models of coordinate transformation within one datum, the paper has suggested some formulae for computing variance-covariance matrices and positional errors in 3 coordinate systems: geocentric, geodetic and plane mapping. These formulae can be easily used in GIS/LIS systems, as well as in land-survey practice.</summary>

Abstract: In creating the path for GIS analysis, it is important to determine the closest correlations between the interested phenomenon and others in order to assign the layers to be established. The factors generating mud flow in Bac Ha highlands, Laocai province are represented clearly on different cartographic and GIS materials, but with different correlation degrees. Using the method “geomorphologic analysis” the authors have found out the two main and determinant pairs of layers in best correlation, which can be applied for warning mud flow in the areas with geologico-geomorphologic situation similar to Bac Ha region. The first is the cruciform crossing between the river beds and the strike of rock layers; the second is the presence of a geological monocline structure with alternation of a member of easily alterable rocks and the one of resistant rocks.&#xD;
In prospecting for the construction site for small hydroelectric plant in the mountainous region the most significant information are the layers representing the system of longitudinal and transversal tectonic faults and correlatively the layer for the longitudinal and transversal valleys. The longitudinal valley can be used for the reservoir, the water - gap formed at the crossing point of the last by a transversal valley is very convenient for the installation of barrage</summary>
