<title>An assessment of healthcare system accessibility of local communities in Yen Chau District, Son La Province</title>
<link>http://tainguyenso.vnu.edu.vn/jspui/handle/123456789/8943</link>
<description>An assessment of healthcare system accessibility of local communities in Yen Chau District, Son La Province
Tran, Anh Tuan; Tran, Van Tuan; [et al.]
Son La Hydroelectric Project has designed the plant with the capacity of 2400 MW. It will&#13;
provide electricity for not only the northwest region but also for the other regions of Vietnam. The&#13;
project was approved by the Vietnam National Assembly on December 16th, 2002, in detail: Son La&#13;
Hydroelectric Plant will be constructed mainly in Son La and Lai Chau provinces. It has water&#13;
reservoir of 16 billion m3. Therefore, there are 13,656 households that have to resettle in new places.&#13;
Healthcare facility is one of the very important public services for local communities, especially in&#13;
the case of mountainous district as Yen Chau, Son La Province. Based on the AccessMod extension&#13;
of ArcView software, we evaluated the mobility of local people as well as the capacities of&#13;
healthcare system in the study area. The results of the study are showing that: there is only 77% of&#13;
total population who can access the healthcare system in Yen Chau District. It means that the&#13;
quality as well as the capacity of healthcare system did not meet the requirement of local people.&#13;
On the other hand, accessibility is very useful method for assessing the quality of infrastructure&#13;
system in rural area. It provided the important information of the real condition of public service&#13;
system for local planners and managers.

<title>Building a GIS database for ecotourism development in Ba Vi District, Ha Tay Province, Vietnam</title>
<link>http://tainguyenso.vnu.edu.vn/jspui/handle/123456789/1523</link>
<description>Building a GIS database for ecotourism development in Ba Vi District, Ha Tay Province, Vietnam
Nguyen, Dinh Minh
Ecotourism is a concept and a fast growing segment of the tourism industry worldwide.&#13;
It plays an increasingly important role in the socio‐economic development of many districts and&#13;
provinces in Vietnam. Therefore, it needs to be well planned and managed with the aid of spatial&#13;
information technologies such as Remote Sensing (RS), Geographic Information System (GIS) and&#13;
Global Positioning System (GPS). This paper presents the results of building a GIS database for&#13;
ecotourism development in Ba Vi, a large legendary mountainous district of Ha Tay Province based&#13;
on field and desk investigations. The created database consists of spatial and attributive data files&#13;
related to natural and cultural resources in Ba Vi stored in a standard format of ArcView GIS that&#13;
can and should be effectively retrieved, analyzed and updated to generate useful information in the&#13;
form of maps, tables and charts to support ecotourism planning and management activities in the&#13;
district for sustainable development.

<title>On some significant unconformities in the Paleozoic and Mesozoic stratigraphy of North Viet Nam Mesozoic stratigraphy of North Viet Nam</title>

<description>On some significant unconformities in the Paleozoic and Mesozoic stratigraphy of North Viet Nam Mesozoic stratigraphy of North Viet Nam
Tong, Dzuy Thanh
A lot of unconformities and stratigraphic gaps have been discovered in the Paleozoic and&#13;
Mesozoic stratigraphy of Bac Bo region (North Viet Nam), but their role in the regional geology&#13;
was not accessed yet in detail. This paper is the first attempt to describe the most significant&#13;
unconformities and stratigraphic gaps and discussing their role in regional geology. The most&#13;
important is the angular unconformity of Norian‐Rhaetian formations upon various formations of&#13;
different formations; it marked the change tectonic regime of the region resulting from the indosian&#13;
orogeny in Viet Nam and in Southeast Asia in common. The gap of Lower Devonian red beds&#13;
formations (Si Ka Formation, Song Cau Group) upon Lower Paleozoic formations (Upper Cambrian ‐&#13;
Than Sa Formation, Lower Ordovician ‐ Lutxia and Na Mo formations) is a regional unconformity,&#13;
which had been taken place in the epicaledonian terranne of South China and North East of Viet&#13;
Nam. The gap between the Da Mai Formation and the Dong Dang Formation was a result of a crust&#13;
rising, but was not through the orogeny activity, although after this gap the structural plan was&#13;
more differentiated. Other unconformities and stratigraphic gaps seems to be local unconformities,&#13;
for instance, the one of the Tan Lap Formation (D2g‐D3 fr tl) upon the Ban Pap Formation (D1p‐D3 fr bp)&#13;
and the unconformity between the Sinh Vinh (O3‐S sv) and the Ben Khe (ε‐O1 bk) formations.
