The findings show that the low-proficiency participants had significantly higher scores on their translation tasks when the text was presented together with the pictures, and that the accompanying pictures facilitated those low-level participants in comprehending not only the simpler but also the more difficult text. Student responses to the effects of visuals on their reading comprehension also revealed that the pictures enhanced their understanding of the text itself. Truyện ngắn có thể thuật lại một giai thoại li kì hay thường nhật, khai thác một cảm xúc riêng tư hay bàn về một vấn đề lịch sử, chính trị… Cho dù có đa dạng đến đâu, chủ đề của truyện ngắn cũng luôn xoay quanh phản ánh thực tế đời sống con người. They are dealt with in respect of their grammatical features including the syntactic functions and morphology, and their semantic structures including lexical meaning, synonyms, collocational range, words and idioms of which the word denoting the feeling is a constituent.
