The Tien Yen Bay is located in Quang Ninh Province , a north-eastern province of Viet Nam.
Coastal wetlands in general and coastal wetlands in the Tien Yen bay specifically play very important roll in the economic development strategy as well as in biodiversity conservation in Viet Nam and the region. Coastal wetland in Tien Yen is facing threats which affect its fuctions, value and quality.
Based on the criteria of Ramsar Convention, 13 types of costal wetlands were identified in the Tien Yen Bay including A (a, b) Permanent shallow marine waters; B Marine subtidal aquatic beds; C Coral reefs, D Rocky marine shores; E (a, b) Sand, shingle or pebble shores;
F (a, b) Estuarine waters; G (a, b) Intertidal mud, sand or salt flats; I Intertidal forested wet-
