Abstract

Red River performed and developed by rather straight direction North West - South East according to Red River fault. From Son Tay to Hanoi, Red River is flowing by such a parallel and there are lots of tributaries running by South East. The results of geomorphological analyses said that system of Day and Nhue rivers are Red River’s main tributaries. These rivers were getting narrower happened by natural rule and some part of them became the former rivers. Nowadays, erosion of Red River’s bank strongly happened with 27-116 m/per year. Settling the position of Day, Nhue River beds in the past and erosive action of Red River is the important base for the project for dyke protection.
