dc.description.abstract The increasing level of heavy metals in the water environmental represents a serious threat to human health and ecological systems. These contaminants must be removed from water resources. Various treatment technologies have been developed. In this paper, the potential of removing heavy metals from aqueous solution by using porous aluminosilicate was studied. The solid sorbents were synthesized by reaction of sodium silicate and alumino sulfate with sol-gel method. Effects of synthesis temperature and ratio of Al:Si on synthesized materials and their adsorption capacity of heavy metals were studied. The characteristics of the sorbents have been studied by X-ray diffraction, BET,… Their surface area is 210 m¬2/g, pore volume is 0.79 cm3/g, the maximum adsorption capacity of material (142.86 mg Pb2+/g; 51.54 mg Cd2+/g and 64.93 Mn2+/g) were obtained. vi
