New contributions: • Drawing a conclusion based on the theoretical and practical reasons of the need to improve competitiveness in state-owned enterprises • Business systematization based on China’s experiences in improving the competitiveness in state-owned enterprises after having joined the WTO • Precise evaluation of the competitiveness in state-owned enterprises before joining the WTO, the thesis suggests some solutions to improve the competitiveness in the state-owned enterprises after Vietnam joined the WTO.
