A study on developing a traffic simulation program for mixed traffic systems

Abstract

Traffic problem is classified into NP-hard one, especially in most developing countries, where motorbike is the main transport instead of car. Actually, there are differences between them. Therefore, it is unlikely to give reliable results if traffic simulation programs mainly developed for homogeneous traffic systems are applied for mixed ones. In this paper, the outlines of simulation model for mixed traffic system are presented. A way to develop a traffic simulation program to deal with it is then proposed, which includes three sub programs responsible for its three main phases. Finally, different case studies are done and summarized.
