Abstract: The giant magnetoimpedance (GMI) effect in amorphous and nanocrystalline magnetic materials was presented. The Co-based ribbons, showing high magnetoimpedance effect were obtained by the rapid quenching in air. The ribbons were used as GMI sensors in a simple Colpitts generator circuit for magnetic field measurement.
