Abstract: Tb5(SixGe1-x)4 samples with x = 0.5 and 0.75 have been prepared with monoclinic crystal structure. They both exhibit paramagnetic-ferromagnetic phase transitions at 116 and 215 K, respectively. High-field magnetization curves at 4.2 K show distinct field-induced transitions. The magnetocaloric effect, determined for magnetic field change from 0 to 5 T, ranges between 12.8 and 6.7 J/kgK, respectively. © 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved.
