The rate coefficients for the reaction of C2H + H2 → products over the temperature range 295-666K, were discussed using pulsed laser photolysis/chemiluminescence. It was found that the rate coefficient exhibited a non Arrhenius behavior in line with the theoretical predictions. The analysis showed that among the possible mechanisms of H-abstraction, insertion and addition reactions, the direct H-abstraction yielding HC≡CH + H was associated with the lowest barrier height.
