Abstract:
In this paper, higher-order Finite-Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) method with second-order of accuracy in time and eighth-order of accuracy in space for solving general multiconductor transmission-line (MTL) equations is presented. This algorithm is applied to calculating lightning-induced voltages on lossy power lines. Computed results using various numerical schemes are illustrated and compared on graphs. It is shown that the solutions obtained by using the highest-order scheme have the highest accuracy.
