Abstract:
A study was performed on the topological degree for potential operators of class (S)+. The results were used to obtain the existence of a third buckled state of a thin elastic shell when the gradient of the potential energy of the shell was not compact. The results of the study also helped in relaxing the conditions on the compactness of the operators and the shallowness of the shells.
