Abstract:
the Korean “Eight Views of Xiao-Xiang” folk paintings had on one hand inherited the art of the original Chinese paintings, while on the other hand created a style of their own, after it was first introduced into the country in the 12th century. The Korean styled folk paintings are free and unrestrained; whether in form, brushwork, lines, colour and subtitles, they are very much dissimilar to the “Eight Views of Xiao-Xiang” paintings produced by Chinese literati.
