Yen Chau District is located at 21o07-21o14’ N. of latitude and 104o10’-104o40’ E. of longitude. The area of this district is about 84,367 ha. The flora of Yen Chau consists of 507 species, 338 genera and 119 families distributed according to the phyla such as: Phylum Lycopodiophyta (2 families, 3 genera, and 8 species), Phylum Equisetophyta (1 family, 1 genus, and 2 species), Phylum Polypodiophyta (9 families, 16 genera, and 41 species), Phylum Gymnospermae (5 families, 8 genera, and 41 species) and Phylum Angiospermae (102 families, 310 genera, and 448 species).
The study found out that there were 8 vegetation types in Yen Chau district. It includes broad and needle leaf mixed evergreen closed forest on limestone altitude of 700-2,500m above sea level, secondary forest, shrub on limestone, shrub on hills, bamboo forest, herbs, plantation forest, and riparian forest.
In addition, 12 species that were listed in the Red Data Book of Vietnam have been founding this area. There are some species which have just been recommended as endangered species. |
