Though developing communicative competence is accepted as the target of almost all modern language courses, communicative competence is still viewed and interpreted quite differently by different researchers. As their views serve as a theoretical basis for communicative language teaching, they need discussing in detail. This paper is aimed at overviewing and discussing some of the influential views on communicative competence and its development in second/foreign language teaching. |
