Abstract: Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) have played a significant role in the economic development in Vietnam. However, they are facing with many challenges that created by international economic integration of Vietnam. It’s recognized that a number of SMEs increasingly extended, but the competitive ability hasn’t been improved remarkably yet. They have contributed a little to the improvements of productivity and national competitiveness. The paper pointed out the lack of business cooperation among Vietnamese SMEs and also confirmed that competition and cooperation are not eliminating each other but they are supplement. Cooperation among enterprises in doing business is always as a key indicator to reflect sustainable development of the economy. Promoting the business cooperation among enterprises reveals the enterprise’s modern business culture. Building cooperation culture in business is both an urgent solution and a strategic ones aimed at improvement of competitiveness for Vietnamese business community and the whole economy in the context of the present integration.
